Facebook has claimed me...

Facebook has over run my life, therefore, in order to claim it back, I will post some cool picks on my blog. I have returned, never to leave again.

First, I am absolutely gushing about my new haircut. My friend Lindsey cut if for me, and she took 5 inches off! I really needed a change, and so I decided I needed teacher hair to make me look older and more mature. Did it work?

Sonja and I traveled to Florida and the Bahamas after I finished finals. We have an AMAZING trip. As you can see, I went surfing!

Sonja and I decided to go snorkeling whilst in the Bahamas. The coral reef was beautiful and the fish were gorgeous. We took a bunch of underwater pics of us swimming with the fish, but they will come later.

The weather we had was fantastic, and the sunsets were soooo pretty!

For my birthday in April, my roomies Chelsea and Andraya decorated my bed with balloons. Sniff sniff, I love them like crazy!

This is a picture of my mom and my grandma. They went to the Muttart because my Grandma loves Orchids, and there was a display. I often go on sleepovers at my grandma's. We are pretty tight.

I am a mild mannered assasination victim

It appears that Abe and I have more in common than I originally thought. I took the test on Sarah and Tara's blog and look at the stuff I found out:

This is my famous leader alter ego.

This is the movie that best describes my personality. I feel like such a good person when I read the caption "determining and doing the right thing is the foundation of my personality," however I believe there is only some truth in this statement. Let's not forget Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. To find out your movie/famous person click here http://similarminds.com/othertests.html

Florida, here we come!

Well team, things are going well in Edmonton Alberta Canada. I have just finished midterms, and my reading break is coming to a close. Over Christmas I was working 2 jobs, Jacob, and Lululemon. I decided to work at Lululemon during this semester, and it has definitely kept me busy, and gotten me more involved in yoga. The most exciting thing that has happened recently is that Sonja and I booked our trip to Florida. We leave on April 27th and come back on May 4, after a relaxing stay in a hotel, a couple days at universal studios, and a cruise. Hooray! I really can't wait. This reminds of a recent job offer I received to be an airport security person with the Government of Canada, for this summer. Somehow I don't picture myself patting down guys for drugs and weapons all summer long, let alone a full cavity search... (shudder). Here are some pics just for fun of some things I have done in the past few months.

This is a pic of me and my roomies: Lisha, Chelsea, and Andraya. It was taken at Lisha's sister's wedding. Good times were had by all, and I even had the honour of being invited to the family dinner. The food was FANTASTIC! (except for when Lisha spilled some grease down her dress- thankfully that was after the reception).

This picture is of my sister Kristen, Lisha, Sonja, and me at a mustache party. Unfortunately we were unable to be judged and win any awards because we arrived fashionably late. I think we look very becoming with mustaches, and with only two days growth!

This is a picture of me and Lindsey Williams. We often enjoy going to various concerts/shows together. We have seen Ellis, City and Colour, Copeland, Switchfoot, Dashboard Confessional, and in April Lindsey is taking me to see Snow Patrol for my birthday. Basically, we are BFFs.

Lindsey's Night of Funness

One fine weekend in November, my dear friend Lindsey Williams planned a fantastic activity, we call it LINDSEY'S NIGHT OF FUNNESS. This evening consisted of a photo scavenger hunt, food, and chilling with cool people. I don't remember my team's name, but I know it had to do with the first letters of our names. My team consisted of me, Lindsey, Sarah, and Ted? Fred? I don't remember his name. Let's call him Joe. We were destined to be winners from the start. We had a limited time to get all of the pictures on the list. Here is a sample:

Task #1: This picture is brought to you by Ashley Young, and the letter H! This picture includes Lindsey, Sarah, and... Joe. The assignment was to fill in the blank of this sentence: Wow! That's a big ________! Obviously we chose the letter H. I wanted to take a picture of my bum, but the H is more photogenic.

Task #2: We were supposed to go to a fire station, get a picture of us on a firetruck, and be wearing a uniform. Taa daa! We had the luck of meeting this year's Mr. August.... Oh Tim, I'm still single!

Well friends, it is now 2007, and I resolve to write more on my blog! I am terrible sorry it has taken so long, but I had to wait for a few pictures in order to start posting again. The plan is to gradually catch up to where I am in my life now. This post will take us back to October 06. For Halloween, my roomies and I decided that we needed to be a group, so consequently we chose something that fit our personalities the best... The Golden Girls!

We had an absolute blast, and we were runner up for best group costume at the YSA Halloween Dance. Woo hoo! Go Golden Girls Go! I was Dorothy who is known for her wit and sarcasm. Chelsea was Sophia, who has lots of pizzaz. Andraya was Rose, where the wheel is spinning, but the hamster is dead, and Lisha was Blanche, the promiscuous one! I think we did a pretty good job of matching everyone to the person whose personality fits them best, don't you?

This picture is the one we used as a model of our wonderful costumes. I am truly proud of our accomplishment, and if you have ever seen an episode who might agree that old is where it's at! Next post will be themed "The FUN has arrived." I know, you are waiting with baited breath!

And the craziness continues…

A lot has changed since the last post. I have been to many weddings, I have moved, I have started school, and I have a new calling. Currently I am in one of my student teaching semesters at the U of A, so all of my classes are squished in to end by the middle of November. I am also still working for the Federal Government 3 days a week for 21.5 hours total. My schedule leaves me barely any time to study, let alone have fun! I had a midterm today, and I have one tomorrow. Ahhh! Don’t worry, I think I will be fine. My new calling is FHE group leader, which is also very time consuming. Usually I get to play on weekends. Last weekend I went to a “Sports” party, and hosted my own party. I am totally looking forward to the long weekend! I hope you enjoy the pics!

This is me and my sister, Kristen. She is pretty much my room mate on weekends because she stays at my house. I drag her to all sorts of parties etc. We have a similar sense of humour, except I am slightly cornier. I know, she looks older than me. What can I say? It's the way nature intended.

I just wanted to take a moment and publicly congratulate all my friends that have recently got married. I was not able to make it to all the weddings, but I have heard news of many of the couples, and things are going good. Holla! to Jeff and Brittany, Tom and Hayley, Layton and Kim, and to my old roomie Jen and her man, Jordan. Also, YAY for Nicole and Matt who just got engaged. I am pretty much a member of the family, so I expect to be invited to the reception, AND the family dinner. Hint, hint, nudge, nudge!

This is a pic of the newly married Tiffany and Graham, and me, their love child. Tee hee. Why am I so perpetually weird?

This is Zak and Evelyn. I still see these two since the wedding, since Evelyn and I have a couple classes in the same building. I totally loved the food here, and let’s be honest, that is half the reason why I go to weddings!

Behold! the hottest girl around. I have searched near and far, and I have not found a woman as great as my dear friend Lisha. She turned 21 on Aug 30. Happy birthday, BFF! We went out to this great restaurant here in Edmonton. It is called Chianti. They have incredible homemade pastas and sauces (they squeeze the tomatoes by hand), and they are cheap!

This pic is of my new house. It is super nice and cute… just like me?? Whatever. Lisha and I have our own rooms, and Chelsea and Andraya share. We have a new addition to the family as of Tues night. Chelsea was asked to Bishop’s Ball with a live chicken. We have named it Gertrude, and she stinks. We take her outside everyday, but at night we have to bring her in because it gets cold. She has already escaped once. NOT FUN. I can’t wait for Friday, she won’t be going anywhere. Dun, dun, dun…

Here is a specimen, which is not from my garden. Lisha and Chelsea grew this zucchini. We have soooo much. We have made zucchini carvings, baked zucchini muffins, fed some to the chicken, ate it fried, and used it in our oil and cheese fondue. We are still plagued with some, please, someone take some, please!

And last but not least. On Sat. Sept. 30, while all the men were at the Preisthood session of conference, my house had a Girls night party. We danced and chatted, but we also ate and ate and ate. We had oil, cheese, and of course, chocolate! Everyone brought something to dip, so there was all sorts of food. Some of my favourites included angel food cake, bread, strawberries, bananas, pineapple, oranges, broccoli, cocktail weiners, apples... and sooo much more.

Well this is it till next time. Happy trails!

Things are starting to get crazy!!

1. I have started to pack for when I move on Sept 1. I have sooo much junk it's not even funny. Well it is, if you think about it as junk in my trunk. Tee hee. When did I become so weird?

2. I still have to sell some old textbooks, buy some new ones, and get my U of A One card. I also need to get school supplies, and if I am feeling rich, I will make a trip to Value Village for some "new" school clothes.

3. I am still working for the government until school starts, with a 1 day break to do a day hike in Jasper- and let's be honest, I should probably use that day to sleep.

One thing that I love about fall, is that it is harvest time, and I have planted a beautiful garden, with all sorts of vegetables. Mmmmmm... Take a look, and try not to drool. Trust me, it's unattractive.

Specimen A: Bell Peppers. I have red, yellow, and green bell peppers growing. These babies love direct sunlight, and lots of water. I haven't eaten any yet, but the time is fast approaching!

Specimen B: I LOVE romaine lettuce. The occasional leaf is a little bitter, but I have been using this lettuce in my daily salads, and it is delicious. I was particularly amazed at how long it lasts once it has been picked.

Specimen C: These are some of the precious few peas that I have harvested. My pea plants weren't in the best spot and they were attacked by bugs. Also, some of them died of thirst while I was away. They may have been neglected, but they were not forgotten.

Specimen D: This is my pumpkin plant. No sign of a pumpkin yet. Should I be worried? I am pretty new to this whole gardening thing, but it is almost the end of the summer. Where, oh, where are my pumpkins?

Specimen E: Strawberries. The cutest and sweetest strawberries that I have ever had, have been from my garden. It is too bad that I don't have more of them. I've only been able to eat 3 all year. The birds always beat me to them. If only I had some sort of weapon...

Specimen F: Mmmmm. I am totally salivating. This is spaghetti squash. It is named as such because when cut open and scraped out, the juicy squash is long and stringy like spaghetti. What are the odds?

Specimen G: Green Beans. You know what they say... beans beans the magical fruit...

Specimen H: Carrots. Simple the best! I love garden carrots because they are so crunchy and juicy. Usually I have quite the battle with the slugs over these puppies, but this year the slugs tended to prefer the lettuce. Woo hoo!

As you will notice, there are no pictures of me gardening. There are several reasons for this. When I garden, I get dirty. I have already displayed pictures of me covered in mud, and I don't want to be redundant. Also, I tend to wear slightly revealing clothes and my fanny is most often in the air, and I would not want anyone to have to witness such a horrific sight. Anyways, see you next week at the same bat-time on the same bat-channel.
